September 16, 2009

Last week, Sister Fuller wrote a letter, but it was deleted. So we got a "Hello, I am fine, everything was deleted" email. This week was much better. Here is the news from the field:

Did you know armadillos can carry leprosy? Well, they can! Apparently there was a leper colony in Louisiana and armadillos were around...they found that people that touched armadillos were getting leprosy. So be careful around armadillos! Also, armadillos have a nerve reaction that make them jump when they are afraid or in danger. When alligators come to eat them, they jump and mostly narrowly escape the jaws of death! But when cars come, they jump into the car and die. That is why there are dead armadillos on the road! I haven't seen one, but there are members here that are big into ecology and wildlife, so I hear all about cool stuff like this! I am waiting til I get to see, maybe touch an armadillo, though, I will have to be careful because I'd rather not get leprosy!

So they have really weird street names here. There is one that is Fernwood and I think of grandma Fern, though, she is a Schenk and not a Wood. Then, along the road we jog there is a Sherylwood, a Jasonwood, and a Markwood all in a row. It makes me think of Orem and I'm waiting to see a Justinwood or a Gangsterwood or a Pamwood....give it time, I'm sure.

So exciting! At Walgreens, we found tapes for 1.79 instead of more expensive so I bought two packs- 20 tapes and there is a tape recorder in the cupboard, so I can send you tapes! I am super stoked about it.

Happy birthday last week to Pam and Paul! I didn't even think about it! I am sorry....Maybe next week when I go to Walmart I can find a card, but we've already made that trip for today.

Happy Birthday Padre too! That is so so exciting! Not everyone gets to be 52 this year!

Well, I can't think of anything else to say....how sad....but I love you mucho!

Jack
